The North Gymnasium is one of the original buildings on the existing campus. As new campus facilities have been built, GCU has looked to repurpose spaces within existing buildings. Repurposing the North Gym to Lecture Halls was an effort to save historic infrastructure while meeting educational space needs. The design concept honors the past by leaving traces of the existing building structure and showcasing the wood and steel barrel vault roof structure. The form allows for the integration of lecture halls that create a sense of warmth and openness. Completed while at Orcutt | Winslow.
