The North
Gymnasium is one of the original buildings on the existing campus. As new campus facilities have been built, GCU
has looked to repurpose spaces within existing buildings. Repurposing the North
Gym to Lecture Halls was an effort to save historic infrastructure while
meeting educational space needs. The
design concept honors the past by leaving traces of the existing building
structure and showcasing the wood and steel barrel vault roof structure. The form allows for the integration of
lecture halls that create a sense of warmth and openness. Completed while at
