2 story | 3,000 SF | Phoenix | Hillside | Un-built
Design for this residence allowed for visitors and residents to blur the lines between the inside and the outside of the home. As one enters the steep hillside lot, on Squaw Peak Mountain, in Phoenix, the views of the city on the other side of the home are visible through the south glass walls of the living space. Insulated, corrugated metal walls block east and west sun. Low sloped roofs extending out twelve feet, over walkways, which provide shade and protection from the harsh desert environment. North and south high-performance glazing allows maximum city and mountain views while maintaining lower energy use. Glass guardrails provide for an illusion that the house is floating over the city. Automobile storage and mechanical units are located on the lower level to maintain unobstructed views.
