2 story | 5,200 SF | Glendale, AZ | Hillside | On Hold
This residence is located on a hillside lot in Gold Mountain. The planned residential development took its name from the mountain on which it is located. The mountain was named after a miner who spent his life looking for gold on the mountain. He left behind mining artifacts and the legend of gold for future generations. The house design was inspired by this legacy and by the historical mining towns, which litter the Arizona landscape. Rusted metal roofing and siding along with concrete, allowed for a strong yet natural aesthetic, while slots of light from the roof and walls allowed light and nature to penetrate the residence. Thus, reminding one of the mining culture of Arizona. Natural rock from the site was to be re-used as site walls and chimney structures.
